What is Degriefing Bodywork?

Whenever we grieve on someone or something that is dear to us, our body reacts both physically and psychologically. We eventually feel depressed, stressed, and lacking in energy. These are not good for our health as they affect both our body and mind. Massage therapy has been known as a good and natural treatment for these health problems. There are types of therapeutic massages designed for these sorts of health issues that may lead to serious problems in the long run when never battled off.

How It Works
Degriefing massage is a form of bodywork that is aimed at providing relief for people who are suffering from grief, stress, and fatigue from very physically and emotionally demanding type of jobs such as doctors, nurses, firefighters, and many more. The main objective of the therapy is to ease the pain of people who had lost someone or help individuals whose professions involve the lives of other people. The therapy helps unload the emotional burden by releasing emotional stress and grief during the massage therapy session.
The therapy involves both bodywork and counseling. Both of these two different types of therapies are given to each client in a unique way from the others. In short, the therapy depends on the situation and medical needs of the patient rather than following a standard massage procedure like most massage therapy does to their clients. The therapy can be done in a group session. However, it can also be conducted in a one on one patient and client treatment depending on the preference of the patients.

What To Expect
During a therapy session, the therapist encourages healthy grieving in order for the client to release what’s inside that needs to be flushed outside of the mind and body. The idea is to go naturally with the flow in a positive way instead of fighting it off. Massage therapy techniques may include yoga, and a self-care program. It teaches the patient about proper grieving over the death of a loved one. Meditation and correct breathing are also taught during the massage therapy session in order to help with the rehabilitation program. Throughout the whole treatment session, the therapist educates the client regarding the proper or positive way of grieving while encouraging him or her to let go and get on with life. The reaction of the patients may vary from one another. Fortunately, most of them respond in a good way which is very helpful to the success and effectiveness of the therapy program.

Most of the patients who had taken Degriefing massage therapy have found great results on their situation. Many of them were relieved with the grief and sorrow that are taking their tolls on their health. Most of the clients were able to move on with their lives and go back to their normal behavior and perspective in life.

The therapy indeed is a wonderful treatment for those who had grieved and those who are still grieving. It does not only bring physical and psychological peace, it also helps you relax and de-stress as your body promotes health and well being.
