Degriefing Certification 5 Day Training
Level I (40hr)
San Francisco Bay Area
Far, far away from the troubled borders, there is a magical mixture of gringos living amongst the villagers in this beautiful artist colony, This safe haven, a mecca for artists from all around the world has been famously frequented since the 1930’s.
This region is the cultural cradle of Mexico and is visited yearly by tourists from all 4 corners of the globe. Perfectly set for our training, we will take advantage of the luxurious hi desert natural spring waters. San Miguel is inhabited by friendly and colorful people, and surrounded by delicious hot springs and floral wonderment. Renowned herbalist Catherine Abby Rich will be teaching us about Flower essences for grief and my esteemed colleague Antonio Sausys will be offering the somatic vehicle for integration, 'Yoga for Grief Relief', demonstrating the premise that "grief is the most available, untapped emotional resource for personal transformation". The New-Year's Retreat
San Miguel de Allende, Mexico
In our combined years of offering grief counseling, how many times have we heard the phrase:
...........‘if I only had time to focus on myself right now…’
This 3 Day, 20 Hour retreat is a specific offering for grieving individuals interested in exploring their relationship to loss and their subsequent grief. We will provide practical techniques and useful strategies to cope with the fluctuating physical and emotional symptoms of bereavement. While each individual grieves in an entirely personal and unique way, there are certain aspects that are universal.
The retreat will offer a safe environment for each participant to explore their personal experience while being guided towards the transformation of grief into an internal source of self awareness and self care. The schedule will alternate theoretical information to normalize grief with experiential activities to "meet each individual exactly where they are at". In addition to group activities, those attending are strongly encouraged have private time to honor their personal process.
The primary integrative modalities incorporated during this retreat are Mindfullness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), storytelling, journaling, music and movement. No previous Degriefing experience is necessary to benefit from this retreat since all work is tailored to persons’ abilities and needs.
Phone interview required prior to acceptance into the retreat.

Lyn was invited to present this 4 day event to raise awareness and promote healing, through offering community education and Degriefing tools regarding loss and the transformation of grief. Presentations were held at the convention center, local hospital, the long term care facility and the public high school to address the issues of loss in this small rural community near the Colorado border. Seminar attendees included the mayor's office, local police and fire personnel and various community professionals accompanied by nurses, doctors, medical staff, guidance counselors, teachers and administrators. Private sessions were offered to grieving local residents. Concluding this 4 day event a gathering of families attended a ritual, honoring the residents of the Raton area with a lovely candle lighting ceremony. Lyn read the names of those deceased over the last 10 years as the sun was setting. Hearts were touched and lives were honored as we normalized grief's effects by working together to 'Heal our Hearts'.
