Personal Grief-Relief Retreat
The Private, Personal Retreats are for grieving individuals and families exploring their relationship to loss in their life. This Degriefing retreat environment is a safe, supportive and nurturing venue. It is specifically tailored to accommodate personal needs.
While everyone grieves in an entirely personal and unique way, there are certain aspects that are universal. Some individuals are not ready for a group; and this private and offering can begin to support the deep healing process possible when grief is transformed into personal fuel to power a new reality.
The retreat process will alternate theoretical information to normalize grief with experiential activities to “meet each individual where they are.”
Supportive Degriefing integrative modalities will be employed. No previous therapeutic experience is necessary to benefit from this work. Private time is highlighted and encouraged for integration, honoring personal process, and promoting self-awareness.
Gentle movement such as Yoga for Degriefing, stretching, mindful walking, story telling, music, and the expressive arts will be employed along with other supporting integrative modalities. Degriefing Bodywork will be engaged on a case by case basis.
No previous yoga experience is necessary to benefit from this retreat since the work is tailored to persons' abilities and needs. In addition to partner activities, those attending will also have private time to honor their personal process.
Participants are strongly encouraged to bring photographs or sacred objects that represents a personal experience of loss. Tools from the Degriefer’s Toolbox® will be applied: such as the Degriefing premises, Degriefing timeline, types of losses, compassionate communication exercises, and cultural myths and misconceptions regarding loss will be explored.
The art and use of ritual will be employed. We’ll combine traditional and integrative therapeutic modalities for the transformation of grief to discover exactly what works for your system.
We focus on personal self-care to prevent the accumulation of embodied grief that can easily lead to compathy (physical empathy and bereavement overload).
Together, through skillful communication, and evaluating your intake form, and we can clarify the prominent issues to be addressed, length of retreat desired, and integrative modalities to incorporate. The tuition is then determined.
In the Degriefing work, healing is defined as, “Mind/Body/Spirit integration”. We can learn to keep our bodies well while we help our bodies heal when Integrative Grief Therapy is employed for the highest good in honor of one another, and the loved ones whose memories we cherish.
